After-School Site Coordinator (Part-Time)

Galileo is looking for a part-time On-Site Site Coordinator to direct our new after-school program during the 2022-2023 school year at Nimitz Elementary School in the Cupertino Union School District. The Site Coordinator are outstanding leaders who assume the overall leadership of one school site’s after-school program, including team management, day-to-day operations, and creating a joyful culture.

Position Description

What’s the job, really?

The Site Coordinator is the on-site leader of one of Galileo’s After-School programs, ensuring program quality and excellent staff and camper experience, guided by an entrepreneurial spirit and strong operational leadership. Site Coordinators work an average of 20-25 hours each week throughout the school year. After-School Site Coordinators will receive paid virtual and in-person training in areas such as safety and operational protocols, diversity, equity and inclusion, student management, staff management, and learning our acclaimed educational pedagogy, The Galileo Innovation Approach, leading up to the program’s start. Essential responsibilities include:


  • You’ll brilliantly build, lead, and maintain your after-school community. From mastering operations to nurturing and retaining staff to creating program culture and traditions, you’ll work to identify and execute your program vision, ensuring our students have the true Galileo experience.
  • In collaboration with others, you’ll manage a team of 2-3 instructors. You’ll be a supportive manager with high expectations, provide feedback on classroom instruction and support, and thoughtfully push your team to greatness in ways that have a ripple effect. You’ll occasionally step in to cover absences to ensure we can continue providing the true Galileo experience when the need arises. 
  • You’ll create and build partnerships like a boss. As the face of Galileo in the community you serve, you’ll work closely with your manager to navigate school relationships while consistently delivering exceptional learning opportunities to our students and superior customer service to their families. 


What are we looking for?


  • College graduate or equivalent work experience

  • Experience working in schools, after-school programs, supplementary learning programs, or with K-8th grade children in another capacity

  • Demonstrated leadership experience (staff management experience a plus)

  • Ability to work in-person and part-time now-June (20-25 hours per week), between 1:00 pm and 6:30 pm Monday through Friday, see below for Work Location information

  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified, TB tested, and fingerprinted before starting this role. Employees will receive reimbursement from Galileo for these requirements 
  • Experience working with underserved/underrepresented youth is a plus, though not required

  • Readiness to stick around and commit to at least one full school year

Site Coordinators start from a wide variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to: school teaching, camp counseling & leadership, after-school programming, coaching, museum education, and leadership in retail or customer service. Physical requirements

These requirements are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation:


  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Regularly operate a computer (including typing and reading)
  • Frequently remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Regularly move about the school sites, walking or standing for extended periods of time
  • Constantly communicate in person, virtually, and from a range of distances
